About the McLaren House
The home itself was built in 1885 by Alexander and Christina McLaren. In the early days of Chippewa Falls, Alex McLaren worked for the Chippewa Lumber Company and sat on the Chippewa County Board. McLaren was considered a “logger” and was involved in local business and government. He was also involved in the Hand Made Boot Company, as well as the Harshman Shoe Company. He passed away on June 23, 1907.
The architectural details of the home feature Eastlake design, two fire places, intricately carved woodwork, original pocket doors, old growth hardwood floors with detailed inlays, leaded glass windows and more!
The grand front doors open into the classic Victorian-Era foyer, which features damask wallpapered walls and custom inlayed wood floors and walls. The ornate wooden staircase leads you to the three guest rooms on the second floor, along with a cozy guest lounge and coffee bar.
Guests are invited to explore and relax in the three exquisite parlors on the main floor, which serve as a common area to exchange ideas or meet others. It also allows for more intimate conversations in seating areas around the two main floor fireplaces.

For those guests that need to leave earlier in the morning, we offer an “ON THE GO” breakfast or can deliver breakfast to your room prior to 8:30 am upon request.
